Brilliantly Birmingham, Charities and Talks

Well, a lot has been happening in the past months. I have just finished a fantastic show at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Flux is a part of Brilliantly Birmingham, and my work has been there since the start of the event in November. Thank you to everyone who turned up for the launch, it was a really fun evening! And a special thank you to the students of Birmingham University who put on a really dazzling performance to get the event started. I will put some photos up soon.

Tonight I am off to the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall. I have been invited to donate a piece of work for their charity auction, raising money for the Geoff Thomas Foundation. They work towards getting new medicines quickly to leukaemia sufferers and are a fantastic charity to support.

In other news, I will be giving (yet another) talk next week at the London College of Fashion. I will be discussing the realities - both good and bad - of running a small creative business. Hopefully I will be able to pass on some good advice to the students!

'Emboss'at the RBSA, Birmingham

For those of you outside of London, I am currently exhibiting at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in Brook Street, Birmingham. The exhibition is entitled 'Emboss', and looks at the use of interesting textures and surface manipulation in crafts.

Coutts Jewellery Designer of the Month!

I have just been made Jewellery Designer of the Month by the Coutts London Jewellery Week team, and am very excited! Read the interview here: www.londonjewelleryweek.co.uk

In the article is information about the upcoming show, 'Brilliance', at Craft Central. I will be exhibiting some new work, including a selection of sumptuous, draping pearl necklaces that I can't wait to hear people's opinions on! Please come along and share your thoughts. The dates are June 9th-12th, from 12-6pm. There is also a special 'Meet the Maker' evening on Wednesday 10th, with wine and nibbles from 6-8pm.

MetWorks CPD Project and London Jewellery Week

Wow, I seem to have a bit of catching up to do! I returned from my adventures in the rainforest last week, and am making a slow adjustment back to the Land of Eng. Jewellery-wise, things are a little exciting right now! I am taking part in an exploratory project with MetWorks and the BTTP, which will culminate in some large-scale installation work at a venue to be confirmed (visit the on-going CPD blog here). Coutts London Jewellery is going to be the big jewellery event of the summer, and I'm thrilled to be involved. I will be exhibiting new, amazon-inspired work alongside some really fantastic jewellers. See details and a press release here.

Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala...

Ok so it's not exactly jewellery related, but I am off to South and Central America for a couple of months - let's call it 'visual research'... I hope to come back with a wealth of new ideas and an exciting collection to launch at London Jewellery Week (as well as a nice tan!).

Kara, Paris

The prestigious Kara Jewellery Exhibition takes place annually at the Bourse De Commerce. A little like Goldsmith's Fair, all exhibitors are personally selected to take part and I am thrilled to be included! I will be travelling with London Jewellery Exports. Made In Clerkenwell

Lord Mayor's Banquet

This september I will be donating a necklace and earrings set to be auctioned at the Lord Mayor's Banquet. Other items up for auction include a pair of bespoke Jimmy Choo shoes and two-week hire of a private yacht. All money raised will go to VSO - a charity dedicated to providing overseas education and healthcare (www.vso.org.uk).

On Wednesday 7th I will be speaking about design protection at the London College of Fashion. Inhorgenta 2008

I am off on a research trip to Munich this weekend, in preparation for showing work at the biggest jewellery show in Europe - Inhorgenta.
